It sounds pretentious…and it is ( a little)
Oh a “logo”? Sounds like hard work-how about…hmmm-ah HA! Pigeon in a train station, that’ll do. Ain’t too difficult this website stuff, I’m a damn natural.
What’s the basic idea behind this little site? To publish WORDS (I know right-it’s pretty unique). This isn’t a business-it’s just a place to gather all sorts of words and give them a home. Surely there’s something that ties these pieces together though, surely? Of course there is, and it’s as pretentious as it gets.
Our pieces loosely revolve around the kind of things that house us. Of course, this can be an actual house, bricks and mortar (and God knows we need more of them), but we’re more so talking about the sounds, words, images and interactions that really seem to hold a special part of us.
You know that experience you have when you smell something you haven’t smelt for years, and instantly a long absent part of you seems to return? That part of you that first quietened down, then disappeared, eventually was assumed dead, and finally was forgotten? I always seem to have that experience coming across that weird smell of what I think is petrol, but in reality is probably anything but.
Anyway-what you tend to notice across those kinds of smells, words, songs, sounds and images is the way we’re housed across a myriad number of things. We are here to spend a little time on those homes-we don’t care if it’s an old podcast, a terrible film, a famous painting, a former friend, a childhood street, an abandoned website or a magazine from a different age: wherever you come across yourself, we’re interested in it. OH and we’re open to all forms of writing: essays, poems, short stories-yeah, the WHOLE lot of 'em. Send em our way. Now, I’m off to figure out what the actual name of that smell is…
